Who Are We?
Hobart Harmony is a women’s chorus committed to the art of a cappella performance.
We sing 4 part a cappella arrangements of classic and modern songs in both barbershop and contemporary styles. We love to move as we perform and style up our look.
Hobart Harmony is proud to be Tasmania’s only Sweet Adelines chorus. Sweet Adelines International is a worldwide organisation of women singers committed to advancing the musical art form of barbershop harmony through education, competition and performance.
Members come from all walks of life, from students to new mums to grandmas, but we all share a real enthusiasm for the fun, friendship and the excitement and challenge of performing Barbershop music under the direction of Jenni Pyefinch.
New members are always welcome to come and “Sing with Us”
What an Adventure….
Since being accepted as a Sweet Adelines chartered member, the Chorus has competed nationally on a regular basis.
In 2000, Hobart Harmony Chorus travelled to Perth (WA) to have its standard of singing judged for membership of Sweet Adelines International. We also co-hosted the convention in Hobart in 2008 / 2009 and again in 2015.
In the 2015 Convention, the Chorus was prestigiously awarded Most Improved Chorus for 2015, and came 3rd in the small chorus division!
Hobart Harmony performs at a variety of shows, events and competitions locally and nationally. Commencing in May 2018 the Australian Sweet Adelines Convention will be held in Hobart for the next three years, so now is a great time to join us.
We aim to have fun, improve in the wonderful art- form of barbershop singing and to ‘sing-out’ at lots of performances. Rehearsals are educational, lively, friendly and enjoyable. We strive to increase our membership and keep current members happy, informed and enthused.
We are a chartered member of the Southern Cross Region of Sweet Adelines International Inc. a worldwide organisation of women singers committed to advancing the musical art form of barbershop harmony through education and performance.
